MK-677

Updated April 28, 2026

Primary Benefits:

  • Stimulates natural growth hormone (GH) and IGF-1 release
  • Enhances muscle growth, strength, and lean mass retention
  • Promotes fat loss through increased metabolic rate
  • Improves sleep quality and recovery
  • Supports bone density and joint health
  • No injections required – oral capsule form

Mechanism of Action:
MK-677 (also known as Ibutamoren) is an orally active growth hormone secretagogue. It mimics the action of ghrelin and binds to the ghrelin receptor (GHSR) in the brain, stimulating the pituitary gland to release growth hormone (GH) and subsequently increasing levels of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). Unlike direct GH injections, MK-677 promotes the body's own hormone release, maintaining physiological pulsatility and avoiding suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis.

Dosing & Protocol:
Oral Capsules:

  • Daily Dose:
     – 15 mg to 30 mg per day (1–2 capsules daily)
  • Cycle:
     10 weeks on
     2–4 weeks off (optional)
  • Timing:
Take on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning.
Can also be taken before bed to enhance GH release during sleep.

Potential Side Effects:

  • Mild water retention or bloating
  • Increased appetite
  • Occasional numbness or tingling (carpal tunnel–like symptoms)
  • Elevated fasting glucose or insulin resistance in some individuals
  • Vivid dreams or sleepiness if taken during the day

Common Stacks:

  • With Ipamorelin or CJC-1295 (no DAC): Synergistic GH release for muscle gain
  • With BPC-157 or TB-500: Accelerates recovery and repair
  • With AOD-9604 or 5-Amino-1MQ: For enhanced fat loss and metabolic support

Notes:
MK-677 is a long-acting GH secretagogue and should not be cycled indefinitely. Monitor blood sugar levels if using long-term. Avoid taking with food for maximum bioavailability. Capsules offer a convenient, non-injectable alternative for growth hormone optimization.
